Friction Ridge Examination

Latent print examiner conducts AFIS operations upon the request of municipal police departments or by the District Attorney. Fingerprints obtained at a scene, developed in the lab, or submitted by law enforcement are evaluated for quality and, if required, searched against the FBI and Pennsylvania fingerprint databases.

MBIS, IDEMIAMulti-Biometric Identification System (MBIS)

Unidentified fingerprints can be searched by utilizing the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS) with both the FBI and Pennsylvania fingerprint databases. The MBIS software compiles a list of potential subjects and the examiner compares the entries manually to see if any matches can be identified. A fingerprint is registered into MBIS and made accessible for future searches when it cannot be identified to a known source.

Automated Biometric Identification Systems (ABIS)

AWARE ABIS

The Aware Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) enables large-scale biometric authentication using software to highlight distinct characteristics for fingerprint identification.

Next Generation Identification (NGI)

NGI is an electronic database storing criminal history and biometric information, featuring Advanced Fingerprint Identification Technology (AFIT) and a Friction Ridge Investigative File for enhanced processing services.
