Polls & Bureau of Elections Open

All 118 Cumberland County polling places open at 7 a.m. Find your polling place

Our Bureau of Elections opens at 7 a.m. and accepts hand delivered mail-in and absentee ballots until 8 p.m.

Pre-canvassing Begins

At 7 a.m. pre-canvassing of mail-in and absentee ballots begins.

Pre-canvassing includes: 

  • Verifying and opening ballots
  • Preparing ballots to be scanned
  • Scanning ballots

Results are not published until after the polls close at 8 p.m.

Polls Close And Counting Begins

At 8 p.m., all Cumberland County polling places close, and the Bureau of Elections stops accepting mail-in and absentee ballots.

Results from the polls are delivered to the Bureau of Elections and tabulated.

Counting (canvassing) of mail-in and absentee ballots begins and continues until every valid ballot is counted. 

Unofficial election results are posted on the website after the count is completed.
