Instructions for voting in person or by mail (absentee or mail-in ballot) in Cumberland County.

Voting In Person

If voting in person on Election Day: 

  1. Make sure you are registered to vote in Cumberland County.
  2. Find your polling place, or make sure it hasn't changed.
  3. Watch the video below to learn how use our voting machines.
  4. Go to your polling place on Election Day between 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. to cast your vote.

Voting By Mail

If voting by absentee or mail-in ballot:

1.Make sure you are registered to vote in Cumberland County.

2.Submit an application to receive a absentee or mail-in ballot.

3. When you receive your ballot, follow these simple steps:

  • Complete the ballot by marking your selections and verifying carefully.
  • Place your completed ballot in the secrecy envelope & seal.
  • Place the secrecy envelope into the return envelope and seal.
  • Complete and sign the voter declaration on the back of the return envelope.

4. Mail or hand deliver your voted ballot to the Cumberland County Bureau of Elections Office (1601 Ritner Highway, Suite 201, Carlisle, PA 17013).

  • If hand delivering your ballot, you may only deliver your own ballot. 
  • If mailing your ballot by USPS, please affix a first class stamp. Postage is NOT prepaid.
