Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP)

What is the Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP)?

The Program is an integrated team process used to mobilize school resources to remove barriers to learning. It serves the elementary student population as an early intervention support for any student who appears to be “at risk” and needing additional support.

How does it work?

Students are referred to ESAP through various avenues; teachers, counselors, administrators, or parents. Please note that this program Does Not diagnose or treat students. ESAP is short-term prevention and intervention service used to assist families in accessing appropriate supportive services for their child to be successful within the home, school, and community.

Program Goals

  • To enhance children's mental health by supporting and strengthening families
  • To create safe and healthy environments for children by working with families, schools, and community agencies
  • To help students overcome barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school
