Some of the responsibilities of a county LEPC, under the “Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act” (SARA) of 1986, are to do educational outreach, and develop and promote local emergency preparedness programs. One of the ways that the Cumberland County LEPC does this is by conducting an annual "LEPC Summit.”
The LEPC works with businesses and facilities to plan for potential emergencies that may impact or potentially shut down their operations and/or affect residents and visitors in Cumberland County.
This one-day conference brings together county facilities, emergency management, first responders, local government and more in a collaborative and educational environment. Designed to allow each of these diverse communities to interface before an emergency occurs, the Summit is the place to learn about relevant topics in today’s safety-oriented world.
