Overview of Benefits

Health Benefits, including Dental and Vision

Cumberland County offers medical coverage to all full-time employees and their dependents as well as dental, vision, and voluntary benefit plans beginning the first day of the second full calendar month following the first day of employment.

Retirement (Pension) Plan

All full-time employees and part-time employees who work more than 1,000 hours per year. Employees contribute 5% pre-tax. Up to 15% can be contributed but any percentage contributed after the mandatory 5% will be after-tax.

Paid Time Off

The county offers generous vacation, sick and personal time to full time employees. Vacation time is accrued beginning from date of hire. 

Holidays

Cumberland County observes 12 paid holidays for full-time employees. In 24 hour/7 day operations within the County, services must be provided during weekends and holidays, so department policy determines the day on which a holiday is celebrated. 

Short-Term/ Long Term Disability

Cumberland County provides a short-term and long term income protection plans at no cost to full-time employees. All full-time non-union employees are eligible 1 year after their hire date on the 1st day of the following month Employees covered under collective bargaining agreements please reference your contract.

Employee Assistance Program

This program is available to all employees beginning on the date of hire.

Life Insurance

Cumberland County provides term life insurance coverage for all full-time employees in the amount of their annual salary rounded up to the nearest thousand (up to $50,000) subject to the terms and conditions of the carrier.

Tuition Reimbursement Program

The program is offered to full-time employees who have been employed by the County in a full-time status for at least six (6) months.
