Numerous documents since Cumberland County’s founding in 1750 have gone “missing” for a variety of reasons. From loss during the 1845 Old Court House Fire and moves to new storage areas to misfiling and removal for both legitimate and suspicious reasons, Cumberland County asks that anyone who encounters documents they feel are county records contact the Cumberland County Archives at (717) 240-7886 or e-mail archives@cumberlandcountypa.gov.
