Memorial Day 2023

Cumberland County Veterans Organizations have developed a list of Memorial Day Events scheduled throughout the County. Please take some time to attend one or more of the events listed below.

Memorial Day Observance & Parade Newburg . Newburg Memorial Day Committee will hold their annual Memorial Day Observance with a morning worship service at 10:45am on the Monument Green. A small memorial service will be held at First Church of God Cemetery at 1:15pm. The Memorial Day parade will move through town at 2pm. A twenty-one-gun salute will take place in front of the monument at the conclusion of the parade.

May 27 11am Memorial Day Service  Hampden Township . Hampden Township Veterans Recognition Committee will host their annual Hampden Township Memorial Day Service honoring the sacrifices made by women and men of the Armed Forces. Hampden Township Civil War hero, U.S. Army Private David W. Conrad will also be remembered. Prayers will be offered by Chaplain Brent Mangus, Captain, 1/108th Field Artillery Battalion, 28th Infantry, PA National Guard; VFW Memorial Post 6704 will provide the honor guard; and music by the Cumberland Valley High School Brass Quintet and vocalist Matthew Robinson. Veterans are invited to wear their uniforms or service ribbons.

May 28 1pm Memorial Day Parade & Picnic Boiling Springs . Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8851 will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade & Picnic. The parade will begin at the Boiling Springs High School & end at the Memorial Clock Tower at Children's Lake where a ceremony will be held. A picnic will follow the ceremony.

May 28 1pm Memorial Day Ceremony Enola . Post 751 will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony inside Legion Post. The ceremony will consist of Posting the Colors, Field Cross, and Placing of the Wreath

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony Camp Hill .  American Legion Post 43 will hold a Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony. The parade will begin at 19th and Market St, west to 24th St, north to Walnut St, east to the Camp Hill Fire Station. A ceremony will follow in the cemetery directly behind the Fire Station.

Memorial Day Parade & Service Carlisle . Joint Council of Carlisle will host a Memorial Day Parade beginning at 9am at N Hanover and N St. It will proceed south on Hanover St, past the Square and turn right on W Pomfret St. The parade will continue west then turn right onto S Pitt St. A memorial service will be held at Veterans Memorial Courtyard in the Carlisle Square following the parade.

Memorial Day Observance Carlisle . U.S. Army War College will host a solemn commemoration ceremony for Memorial Day at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) at 11:20 am. The ceremony will include a wreath laying, a 21-gun salute, and a flyover from the three vintage Korean War era aircraft. Guest Speaker will be Retired Army Lieutenant General and Vietnam Veteran Robert Noonan. The Carlisle Town Band will provide a musical selection for the event.

Memorial Day Parade & Service Mechanicsburg . Mechanicsburg Area Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day Parade & Service. The parade will form at 9:15 and proceed from Filbert & Simpson St at 10am and continue to the Mechanicsburg Cemetery GAR monument, Marble St. A service will follow in front of the GAR monument at 11am.

Memorial Day Parade & Service New Cumberland . New Cumberland Memorial Day Parade Committee, under the sponsorship of the New Cumberland Olde Town Association will present a brief Memorial Day Service at the V.F.W. Memorial located at Park Ave. and Bridge St. A parade will begin immediately following the service and proceed down Bridge St to Third St turning left and ending at Market Square.

Memorial Day Service Shippensburg . Locust Grove Cemetery Committee will hold a brief ceremony to honor the deceased Veterans buried in Locust Grove Cemetery, Queen St (no physical address).

Directions: Beginning at Sheetz on 359 E King St, turn right at the corner of E King and Queen St. Proceed to top of the hill. Turn right into the cemetery.

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony Shippensburg . Navy Marine Corps will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony on the Branch Bridge, (no physical address) location is on King St. A Memorial Day Parade will follow at 2pm. The Parade will begin on Prince St and King St. and follow King St (Rt 11) to Morris St.
