In October 2020,  a Virtual Town Hall Meeting was held in conjunction with the PA CASA Association to help increase awareness of CASA volunteers' advocacy work for abused and neglected children. The event highlighted the number of children in the dependency system who could benefit from having a dedicated, trained volunteer, appointed by the Court and assigned to their case.

Speakers include distinguished participants, including Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Teresa Miller, and the Honorable Edward E. Guido, along with other Judges, elected officials, and CASA volunteers.

Event History:

Various events throughout the year celebrate the accomplishments of the CASA Volunteers and highlight the opportunities for everyday citizens to get involved in making a difference in the lives of children in Cumberland County.

  • The Light of Hope is an annual event in the spring open to the public where the most recently trained volunteers are sworn-in. A candle-lighting ceremony is part of the celebration.

As a member organization of the PA CASA Association, the Cumberland County CASA Program also participates in events to promote and support PA CASA. In turn, the PA CASA Association also helps all CASA programs across the state with helping to spread the word about the need for CASA Volunteers.

  • On August 24, 2019, the PA CASA Association hosted a family fun day on City Island. Attendees participated in a mini-golf tournament and enjoyed music, games, and other fun activities, along with attending a Senators Baseball game that evening.
